Enrollment
We'd love to welcome your family to UPNS. Here's everything you need to know about joining our cooperative community.
Is It a Good Fit?
Is UPNS Right for Your Family?
UPNS is a wonderful school for families who are ready to be part of something larger than just dropping off and picking up.
You Want an Active Role
As a co-op, UPNS requires parent participation in the classroom and school operations. If you want to be genuinely involved in your child's education, this is your place.
UCLA Affiliation β or Not
UPNS was founded to serve the UCLA community, but we are open to all families regardless of UCLA connection. Everyone is warmly welcome.
Quality is Your Priority
NAEYC accreditation means our program meets the highest standards in curriculum, teaching, health, safety, and family engagement.
Community Matters to You
UPNS families form deep, lasting bonds. The cooperative model creates a level of connection you simply don't find in traditional preschools.
The Process
How to Apply
Joining UPNS is a five-step process. We want to make sure the school and your family are a great match β because you're joining a community, not just enrolling in a class.
Attend an Info Session
Come to one of our open information sessions to learn about UPNS, ask questions, and get a feel for our cooperative community. Sessions are held monthly β contact us to RSVP.
Submit an Application
Complete the enrollment application below with information about your family and child. Tell us about your child's age, interests, and which classroom you're interested in.
Interview & Campus Tour
We'll invite you for a personal meeting with our director or teachers and a tour of the classrooms. This is a chance to ask questions and for us to get to know your family.
Receive an Enrollment Offer
If there is space available and it's a good fit for all, we will extend a formal enrollment offer. Offers are typically made within 1β2 weeks of your interview.
Complete Cooperative Membership
Finalize enrollment paperwork, pay initial fees, attend a parent orientation, and complete your cooperative membership agreement. Welcome to the UPNS family!
What's Expected
The Cooperative Commitment
Joining UPNS means becoming a member of our cooperative β and that means contributing your time and energy to the school. This is what makes UPNS special: parents aren't outsiders to their child's education, they are part of it.
Most families find that co-op participation β while a genuine time commitment β becomes one of the most rewarding parts of the UPNS experience. You'll build real friendships, see your child thrive in real time, and contribute to a school you're genuinely proud of.
A Note on Commitment
The specific number of participation days and committee assignments varies by classroom and family circumstances. Details will be discussed during your enrollment interview. We are understanding of varied schedules and always work to find arrangements that work for every family.
Classroom Participation Days
Each family commits to a set number of participation days per month, assisting the lead teacher in the classroom.
Committee Assignments
Every family joins a committee β whether it's fundraising, garden maintenance, library organization, or event planning.
Monthly Co-op Meetings
Attendance at monthly parent meetings keeps everyone connected, informed, and part of school decision-making.
School Maintenance Tasks
Periodic school workdays help keep UPNS beautiful and fully functioning β from deep cleaning to yard care.
